"The Voice" announced Sawyer Fredericks as the new winner on Tuesday's season 8 finale.
Host Carson Daly announced Fredericks, 16, as the new reigning champion of the reality singing competition.
Four contestants of the show competed for a recording contract: Team Pharrell Williams' 16-year-old Sawyer Fredericks and 17-year-old Koryn Hawthorne, Team Adam Levine's 37-year-old Joshua Davis and Team Blake Shelton's 28-year-old Meghan Linsey. Christina Aguilera is the only mentor to not have a performer competing in the finale this season.
It has to be noted that for the first time in the history of the NBC talent show, two singers, Joshua Davis and Meghan Linsey, belted out original tracks they wrote themselves. In addition, each artist performed a duet with their respective coach.
Koryn Hawthorne finished in the fourth place. Joshua Davis was placed third and Meghan Linsey won the second place.
Fredericks was the frontrunner throughout the full season, which started airing in February. At only 16, he is officially the show's youngest winner ever.
Ray LaMontagne has written "Please" for Fredericks and it is set to be released as his first single. He will also score a recording contract as the show's prize.
